Taking a moment to appreciate the small things in life

ree

Well guys I have been sick this week, some crazy stomach bug. So today I felt a little off and grumpy, So I felt like to get my mindset back to normal it was best to think of some things that I am grateful for. I feel that in order to not let day to day life get to you and make you feel worn down its important to look on the more positive side of things, no matter how hard it is to see that ray of light. There is always something to be grateful for you just have to look.  Gratitude is defined literally as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

1. I am grateful that I have a job. My job can be difficult at times but I am overall very grateful that I have one. SO many people are still out of work these days.

2. I am grateful for being healthy, (mostly) I do have a weight issue but after my last physical I am healthier than I thought I would be at this point in my life.

3. I am grateful for my family. I have no Idea where I would be without my husband (Crafty Dad) He is an amazing man and has pulled me through some of the darkest times of my life. And I know that if I do anything difficult or new he always has my back I he knows I always have his. My kids (Crafty girl, and Crafty son) are my reasons for getting up every day I love them and want nothing but the best for them, But I also want them to know that anything worth having is worth working hard for. I try to show this by example and I know sometimes they get discouraged because I make them earn things that they want, But I don’t feel like they learn anything if I just give them everything that they want (I couldn’t afford to anyway Lol) But I want them to feel the satisfaction and pride that comes with finally getting whatever it is that they were trying to earn.

4. I am grateful that my family is healthy. Crafty girl has asthma, and both of my kids have ADHD, they have a wonderful pediatrician that they have seen since they were born he is amazing and has worked out a plan that works for my kids so they can focus in school. And YES, they are on medication and no they are not walking zombies. They take the meds only to focus in school so by the time they are home they meds have basically wore off. I did not want the meds to change their personalities and change who they were. Sometimes we have issues with homework though but we get through it. As far as Crafty Girls asthma she has been on a regimen that is working great and has not had a full-on asthma attack in over 3 years so I am very grateful for that. Anyone whose child suffers from asthma will understand the terror and helplessness of looking into their child’s eyes and knowing they can’t breathe and not really being able to do anything other than give them a treatment and pray that it works.  Now she has had to use an inhaler once in a while (usually when she is sick) but it is nothing like it was.

5. I am very grateful for having a place to live, that is something I will never take for granted. Now I do wish we were able to move into a bigger place, we outgrew this apartment a few years ago lol but I am still extremely grateful we have a roof over our heads.

Sometimes I feel that we get caught up in the day to day humdrum that life can bring. So, I feel it’s very beneficial to stop and think about what it is that we are grateful for even if it’s as simple as we got up today.

What are you grateful for? Is your list as long as mine? Or is it longer
